How it works
Gate King replaces your truck’s factory tailgate cables with durable chromoly steel adjusters that let you secure your tailgate in eight different positions. Just lift the tailgate to your desired angle and listen for the click—this means the ratchet and pin system is engaged and locked.
In the neutral position, they function like your stock cables. Built to withstand the elements, Gate King adjusters are coated for maximum protection. Simply clean and lightly lubricate as needed to keep them performing for the life of your truck.
Easy Install
Gate King installs in about 10 minutes per side using the included stainless steel hardware. Simply remove your stock tailgate cables and replace them with the Gate King arms—just match the left (L) and right (R) markings.
Attach the hardware with the provided washers and bolts, apply Loctite, and tighten in place. Once installed, flip the tabs up to engage the locking system and you’re ready to go.
A release tool is included in case the latch ever sticks, though operation is smooth and reset is automatic when closing the tailgate.

How many do I receive in the box?
Each box comes with a set of two Gate Kings in a left and right configuration.
How easy is this to install?
About as easy as easy can get. Each side takes about 3-5 minutes to unscrew the old tailgate cables and install our Gate King® set.
Do I need to use a drill?
Fortunately, there is no drilling involved! Simply screw the Gate King® arms into the same holes that your old tailgate cables use.
How do I use these?
Simply engage the latching pin on each side and lift your tailgate to the desired height. You will hear a satisfying click to ensure the ratchet and pin are engaged.
Can I use my tailgate normally when I don’t need them?
Yes, you can keep them on your truck for as long as you like! They will function just like normal cables, only they will look 10 times cooler!
Will this work on both of my trucks?
Yes, while Gate King® is compatible with almost every new truck on the market today, the product itself is not universal. You will have to buy two sets for two different trucks.
How sturdy is this?
Each Gate King® set has been made using quality steel right here in the USA. Basically it’s as tough as the brand new truck you just bought.
How much weight will these hold?
While we cannot give an official weight limit at this time, they have been tested with several bikes in the back, and are basically as strong as the tailgate cables they are replacing. Give them a try and see for yourself.
Will these be fine in the rain and snow?
Each Gate King® is coated to be everything-proof using a special coating process, meaning the elements won’t stand a chance!
Do these replace all of my straps and tie-downs?
While Gate King® does allow for more space in your truck bed, we still highly recommend the use of straps and/or tie-downs to prevent any of your equipment from bouncing out of your truck bed.
Will these work if I have a dented or bent tailgate?
Unfortunately, Gate King® may not work if your truck's tailgate is either bent, dented, or misaligned.
